Class Description: This class is for early to mid-level elementary students who enjoy working with LEGO and computers. The year is divided between early robotics from LEGO Education, and beginning Scratch Jr. programming from MIT. Students work with LEGO Education's We-Do Robotics sets, designed specifically for children new to robotics and programming, to build a variety of robotics models and learn to program them to move and make sounds. At mid year the class will transition to learning to program using Scratch Jr., a graphical programming language designed specifically for young children as a precursor to other programming languages. Students will use Scratch Jr. for creating games, animated stories, and STEM projects.
