Student Provided Materials: The Easy French Reader: A Three Part Text for Beginning Students.
One Time Cost (to teacher) $30.00Cost Description: Photocopies, pamphlets, flashcards, incentives, etc . . .
Homework: About 30 minutes per week.
Skills: Able to participate in classroom discussion about texts explored. Initially, the text will be covered in English. Students will have fun assisting each other in asking and answering questions in French on the text using vocabulary learned in first year French.
Class Description: Read a very short passage in French each week. We will cover grammar as it comes up but will not assign grammar homework. We will read about Vercingetorix, Clovis, Jeanne d'Arc, kings, queens, Napoleon . . .. We will read parts of the Le petite prince, and from La Fontaine and other great French writers. French art and customs will be covered. This class is meant to maintain 1st year French and gently advance one's reading level through 2nd year High School French. Homework is minimal. This class would count as a 1/4 credit 2nd year class. Marked on participation. No exams. *** Credit can be upgraded to 1/2 credit if the student opts to submit recommended work.
