Class Size: 5 to 15Prerequisites: Students should have an interest in photography. While no prerequisite classes are required, some basic math skills will be employed to shoot in manual mode and while editing.
Tuition: $50.00 per 4-Class SessionDuration: 1 hour
Student Provided Materials: Students will need access to a digital camera with the ability to change settings manually. A digital SLR camera or mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses are ideal, but even cell phones can work with the right downloaded apps and accessories. Access to a computer and email will be required throughout the year and editing software (Adobe Lightroom) will be used for a portion of the class. Editing software license will be purchased individually for the months needed at the rate of $9.99/mth through Adobe.

Class Description: We carry a camera with us everyday - why not learn how to use it?!? Go from having the camera tell you what it sees to giving instructions that will bring your artistic vision to life. In Photography 101: Introduction to Digital Imaging, students will spend the first half of the year learning about the camera and how to make deliberate choices to create our art. We will focus on camera basics and exposure and then move into composition and lighting choices. The second half of the year will include a deep dive into individual genres of photography while giving students the tools to make creative edits to enhance their images. Students will be assigned a weekly photography prompt that illustrates the concepts learned in class. Students will end the year with a completed portfolio of their own photographic works.Instructor to provide student portfolios and photographic prints. Additional portfolios to replace lost or full binders will be available for purchase through the instructor at student's expense.
