Skills: Ability to read at a middle school level.
Class Description: In this course we will read high quality, high interest books, short stories and poems. We will discuss the books read, the authors, how the books relate to our lives on both a global and personal level. We will also learn to identify literary elements such as characters, setting and plot. There will be lots of active class participation, with activities or occasional crafts to reinforce the discussions. One of the main purposes of the class will be to help students learn to love good literature. Books will be chosen based on the reading levels and interests of the students in the class. Listening to books on audio is fine.Tuition includes supplies for additional materials, as well as crafts and projects that we do in class.
