We will investigate a variety of topics in the natural sciences through outdoor exploration, hands-on learning activities, experiments, nature games, stories, and art projects. Each week's class will focus on a different natural science theme including: using our senses in nature; living and non-living things; animal habitats and life cycles; animal adaptations like camouflage and nocturnal creatures, how plants and trees grow; discovering and studying invertebrates like wiggling worms and slimy snails; seasonal changes; the water cycle; simple chemistry experiments like fizzy potions and slimes; and much more! We will almost always go outdoors for a portion of every class, rain or shine.
