From history and industry, to art and culture, rivers have always been an important part of human interactions. This class will be a year-long, hands-on exploration into the ways in which rivers have impacted human life, as well as human's impact on rivers - and with so many rivers right in our own backyard, we will have lots of opportunity to get out and explore! Topics will include: exploration, culture (through art, song, stories and literature), transportation, hydro-electric power, salmon, watershed and water cycle, water rights and management, recreation and more. We will learn through reading, games, activities, and a field trip or two.
