Students will work with a variety of mediums, develop new vocabulary, and develop their observational abilities. Students will be given a sketch book and fun art assignments each week. This course is very process-oriented; it is centered on teaching students a drawing philosophy that they can take with them throughout their creative lives. As we move into the cartooning portion of this curriculum, students will learn about artists such as Charles Demuth, Leonardo da Vinci, Roy Lichtenstein, and Keith Haring. Students will create caricatures, cartoon strips, and illustrate typography. Learn techniques in drawing like proportions of the body, portraiture, and more!
