In this class we will be reading a book a month focusing on character, setting, plot, theme and literary devices. There will either be a project or a 1-2 page paper once a month based around the book . Using The 6+1 Traits of Writing we will discover how authors use these traits to build their characters and worlds and then use the traits to strengthen our writing. The goals of this class are to have fun discussing books, characters, and worlds together and to discover how to move learning from talking into the written form. The books for next year are still under consideration but will be chosen from many genres such as: sci-fi, free verse, Newberry winners, classic authors and contemporary authors.
